there's no time to lose, i heard her say

a few weeks ago i watched the 4 adventures of reinette and mirabelle, a french film that follows the friendship of a country girl and a city girl and their interactions with the people of paris. i know that sounds incredibly cliche, but believe me when i tell you that it was good. it was sweet, strange, and honest in the way that it represented their relationship. that movie was the first i've watched in a while that moved really slowly and softly, in a nice contrast to some films that try to contain as much action and character development etc into a short period.

my sweater is from the uniqlo store and the dress is thrifted.

the shirt is DIYed and the dress and belt worn as necktie is thrifted.

shirt, belt, and necklace are all thrifted, and the jeans are UO.

the outfits worn by reinette and mirabelle reminded me a bit of isa arfen's latest show:

  • the looks are a really nice balance of eclectic and clean
  • those glasses... have changed my life since i saw them, and my latest goal in life is to find something exactly like them. they're so perfectly zenon girl of the 21st century/retro futuristic/60s cool older sister, that i'll probably have to give away everything i own but... you know.
  • i've never been a big fan of ruffles but maybe that's because i've never seen them presented exactly like this before

you know we can always change scenes (school looks)

hi! i just finished my first week of school and.. it's already kicking my butt?? but it's okay, this year i'm really trying to focus on supporting myself, working through things, figuring out more about who i am--- i'm ready for it tbh. it's my freshman year of high school and i feel like i'm on the precipice of something, idk what, but it's exciting.

this song is so funky and sweet, and the video is just a really cool concept, like i'm surprised it hasn't been done before, but it's ok because it works so well for this tune.

my first day outfit was just like a shirt, jeans, and sneakers, because (i've said this before but) the first day is so stressful! and disorienting! that you need something that makes you feel physically comfortable, and emotionally stable- which in this case translates to simplicity.

my kind of outer-space look  for the second day was : a thrifted purple skirt and black turtleneck, and a shirt i made.

thursday was the thrifted turtleneck and shoes, a bracelet worn around my ankle from my childhood, and a uo grid dress.

friday! i wore this cute tie-strap shirt that i just made, with uo jeans.

that's all for now, i'm really interested in knowing how you guys are doing w school, and ofc always the added reminder that your overall health should be the priority! and to support and trust yourselves! and be honest and kind (esp. to yourself!) ok, ok, i'm done being yr guidance counselor/vodka aunt for now.

all right come close (outfit / mood)

those peachy tones i talked about in the last post are still there for me. maybe it's the similarity to the stereotypical colors of the sunset, and the fact that we're in the sunset portion of the summer-- but i'm really loving the oranges and pinks and bronzes. the time of the year and the way that these colors seem to fade into one another puts forward the concept of transitions and shifts. i wore a red turtleneck that i made, and a thrifted orange skirt and pink button-down.
