Save me from myself

 Everything; thrifted.

This is just a quickie post because in between cross country meets, performances, math team practices, school, studying for midterms, and you know... breathing, I barely have time to do anything creative. Sadly, this blog falls under the "creative" part along with working on my journal (which I haven't done in ages) and writing poetry or just making art.

Give me a "U"! Give me a "G"! Give me an "H"! What does that spell?

Ugh.

Last Friday was my school's pep rally, so of course it's necessary to have pictures of me dressed as attempting to be a cheerleader.

                      \

Backpack-childhood, shoes- can't remember, everything else-thrifted/garage sale. You may or may not have noticed but I moved to my room for my outfit picture and I'm just wondering if this looks any better than the old pictures?

The sweater that I'm wearing in this photo is a combination of the tackiest (in a good way) and most uncomfortable, itchy thing in my closet. Lesson: wearability is always important in fashion.
The outfit was partly influenced by this Rookie shoot.

And also partly by Prada's Spring 2014 RTW Collection

And also partly by this picture I found I found on tumblr

Is it just me or is this quite possibly the best picture in the history of ever. Look how sassy they all are.

I don't know what to call it

What's up my peeps (Look! I'm using popular teenage slang. Am I part of the club now?)

(I wrote this post a while ago, but it got lost in my web of draft posts so...)

Today was a hectic mix of spending hours on the interwebs obsessively stalking blogs that are better than mine in an attempt to feed off their ability to blog effortlessly and get inspiration, listening to Hole, cleaning the house, finding glitter in random places after doing a crafty thing with glitter a few days ago, and doing some more crafty things.

Once again, I apologize for the disgusting photo quality of these.

I made this moodboard because I really wanted a physical representation of some of the vibes I've been feeling*on the internet.

clockwise from top left: glitter lipgloss holder in the shape of a jewel, rock colored blue with chalk, sleeping mask, barbie hair brush, kitschy hair things, girl's book of glamour: guide to being a goddess.

Old sewing manual from the 1950s, Shirley Temple double feature CD, weird party favor mini-game shaped like a bunny (I don't know what it's called)

Two plastic easter egg halves, barbie mini-purse, nail file, Lizzy the lizard, picture printed from somewhere on the internet and then made into a psuedo-polaroid by moi, (I am truly sorry that this can't be sourced correctly, darn you Internet! Just kidding, I love you. If you know where this is from, let me know.) .

The shining gem of this moodboard, my very own 90s Barbie Sing-A-Long Karaoke set. I kind of feel bad that I never use it anymore because it's just so cool.

Coasting along this sudden wave of creativity, I did this page in my journal kind of centered around "Doll Parts" by Hole.

It's weird because there was a huge disconnect between the outfit I wore and the vibes I was getting from the journal collage and the moodboard. But maybe later I'll wear something a little more along the lines of the whole sickly sweet-pastel-ness.

*Seriously Kanyinsola, "feeling vibes"? What are you, a middle-aged hippie? Nothing against middle-aged hippies though, you guys are pretty cool.

Bye bye,
K

Flying Sky High

What's up ladies and gents?

I know that I'm a horrible blogger and person and all of that because I haven't blogged in ages, but yeah, more about that later. Today I want to talk about one of my favorite childhood movies, which I just re-watched for the fourth or fifth time a while ago.

You guys, look at that really bad quality movie poster, doesn't it just look amazing. There are multiple reasons that I love love love Sky High

  • a lot of humor
  • a high school love story playing in the background
  • dramatic plot lines and action sequences
  • regular high school drama... but with superheroes and evil villains
  • an extraordinary amount of special effects
  • the internal conflicts
  • mad science
  • buildings that fall out of the sky
  • outcasts that end up saving the world
  • a plot twist (actually two)
  • a character whose mom is a superhero and dad is a supervillain and his name is Warren Peace
  • people that turn into babies
  • the general "Be yourself/sometimes the misfits are the cool kids" lesson that you see in most movies marketed to children
  • for me, a lot of nostalgia
  • an actual platonic relationship between two main characters without any intent to make anything romantic for any reason, which is something you usually don't see in movies, let alone Disney movies
  • This guy (for the full effect that has to be said in literally the sleaziest voice imaginable)

  • Magenta and her insanely cool style
Her name's Maj because she has magenta streaks in her hair and wears mainly purple clothing (as seen above)

QUOTEZ~

  • "If life were to suddenly get fair, it wouldn't be high school." Layla
  • "If you ever cross me again, I'll roast you alive." Warren
So how about you guys, have you ever seen Sky High and what are your favorite childhood movies? Let me know in the comments (I really love reading them!)

Goodbye.
