[He] 2s2 2p6 (tacky + smush)

one of my favorite seniors left school yesterday and i found myself unexpectedly grieving for both the time we spent together and the time we didn't (i know that sounds way dramatic but I am allowed to have drama thoughts because I AM A TEENAGER HEYYO**).

despite being sad, i was also incredibly happy for them because graduating is such a great thing (mostly because high school sux haha).

and then i also got this really weird feeling when i realized that there's 7 billion people and  I am one of them and they are one of them and there's a big chance that I'll see thousands more people in my life but never see them again. even though this kind of thinking usually leaves me pretty existentialist and sad, i am actually feeling super excited to be alive because:

wow there are so many people on this planet and we all have supercomputers in our bodies and we can feel emotions and see colors and there are billions of ways to be alive wow.

anyway, i decided to make a playlist of songs that kind of capture all of those loud beautiful emotions.

(if anyone wants to teach me how to embed 8tracks playlists, that would be cool- but for now i think you have to click through for the link)

the visual representation of all this is probably best described as neon because

1. neon glaring at you in the middle of the night in the city when everyone's supposed to be asleep
2. very tacky, very beautiful neon lights at those old arcades

And of course, the undeniable James Turrell, who I'm isanely in love with because of how simple everything is, but unusually magical.

  1. Oh man, I love this so much. When I think of neon, I can't help but think of lost in translation because the colours are so beautiful. I love this post a lot.

  2. aaaaghhh everything looks so pretty! I love this post so much! OMFG can we talk about the radness of that long exposure street light photo? asdfghjk. I must watch Chungking Express now! The playlist is filled with such lovely tunes! I loved the OKGo song, Reservoir by Metromony, and Fireworks the most but i truly feel that all the songs fit great together. You hold some very interesting thoughts. What you wrote kinda reminded me about how in Rookie Zooey Deschanel mentioned how during high school she was mesmerized by the meaning of infinity and how it applies to us. Omg did you just get away with making an electron configuration being your title and making it seem cool? (i think you did).

    2. thank you so much! i have been crying over that long exposure photo, it's just so buteeful! I hadn't read that Zooey Deschanel thing, but it seems really interesting so I'll check it out. the electron cofiguration thing was my greatest trick and i'm actually pretty proud of it lol

  3. these photos are all amazing! i don't know how to describe it but colours are so fascinating and yet so cloudy because, i mean, how would you even describe 'colours'? they are just kind of there without ever to be questioned but they definitely make everything more beautiful :) (this probably doesn't sound very smart, i am sorry)
'i am here but nothing' is great. couldn't stop looking at it (and all the other pictures captivated me as well) and also could not stop thinking because some people take pictures like these and some aren't even able to photograph a horse without the result being shitty!
